    porridge...

    rice porridge.
or congee some would call it.

today, my dad had his tooth patched up.
so, the dentist advised him to go on a soft food diet for a day.
therefore, for lunch, we went to KFC to makan.

    >.<''
    the service was so slow.
the leftover of customers who had gone back home was left in a disarray.
the food ... well the food....
left me with loads of puzzling questions and a hungry dad.
what's with the 2-ball chicken ball soup?
do they expect people to eat like birds?
or does the KFC franchise lack fresh chicken resources to produce enough meatballs?
    i doubt that.

so i made my dad an oatmeal dish with milo, pear and well, oats...XD
forced him to eat it and slept.

however, due to the guilt i was feeling,
i cooked my very first rice porridge,
following reliable instructions from the net and working based on instincts.

first, i washed the eggs and cut the sawi.
then i put the washed rice into a pot and onto the stove.
i was cooking midway when i realised that the rice was getting burnt...
    >.<'' it was sticking to the bottom of the pot...
    so i added more water.
as the water evaporated into steam, there was no more liquid left in the pot.
    so i added more water.
    even more water.
    and more.XD.
i repeated this 3 more times before i dumped in the sawi.
gosh, the sawi became a bunch of dark-coloured wilted leaves within minutes.
at the same time, i added the eggs too.
not long after, the contents of the pot became gooey and scary.
    0.0... oops?... hehe...

but hor, my dad praised me leh...
mwahahaha... for the effort? or for the not-so-bad porridge?
    even if it was clumped?
i have a vague idea to that. XD.

today, i experienced a hot steamy sensation (from the pot la...>.<'') and gained a rough idea on the ways to cook an edible porridge.
what i did not get was the great smelling aroma that was supposed to waft through the air particles, from the pot and into my flared nostrils.
in a rating of 1-10, with 10 being the best, i'd give myself a 4.
    not bad for an amateur.
    not bad at all. XD.
feel free to praise me. hehe...
    adios.
